Getting there & terminal
Grimaldi Lines departs Civitavecchia from the Terminal Autostrade del Mare (Via Prato del Turco 1; for satnav: Largo della Pace). Coming from Rome on the A12, don't take the Civitavecchia exits - stay on the motorway to its end and follow the bypass to the port; from the north on the SS1 Aurelia, join the Orte-Civitavecchia bypass around ten kilometres before the town. Check-in desks are inside the terminal building.
Fast Check-in applies to all departures to Porto Torres: with your ticket you go straight to the boarding area and show it to Grimaldi staff, no queuing at a counter; your cabin key is collected on board at reception or from the machine.

- With a vehicle: at check-in two hours before departure at the latest, expect queues in high season.

Cruise Roma and Cruise Barcelona are the flagships of the Grimaldi fleet: 28 knots, 499 cabins, room for over 3,300 passengers. Standard cabins have four berths and a private shower, with or without a porthole; junior suites offer a double bed, sofa bed, TV and minibar. Self-service and à la carte restaurants, a gym, wellness area, disco and an outdoor pool in summer are all on board. Wi-Fi is available as a satellite package for an extra charge; mobile phones roam onto the expensive ship network at sea.
Vehicle, bike & pet
Cars, motorhomes, motorbikes and bicycles all travel. Bicycles and e-scooters must be included in the booking, are walked to the ship along the vehicle lane and stay in the garage for the whole crossing. You need to give the total dimensions including roof box, bike rack and tow bar; if the booked category doesn't match, there's no boarding and no refund. Arrival & onward travel
In Porto Torres, Grimaldi Lines doesn't dock at the Stazione Marittima but at the Molo Industriale in the industrial port (Via Amerigo Vespucci, Molo ASI) - for satnav use "Via Vespucci, Porto Torres". From there the SS131 leads to Sassari and on to Cagliari, the SP42 to Alghero, and the SP90 along the north coast to Santa Teresa di Gallura. On the return leg, when the ship spends longer in port, Grimaldi offers a free late check-out: you can stay in your cabin until the morning - ask when boarding.
