Getting there & the terminal
Sardinia ferries depart from Livorno at the Stazione Marittima. Some departures instead use the Varco Galvani north of the city, which is not served by public transport. Check which access point is printed on your ticket before you travel: without a car, getting there is difficult.
By car, you reach the port from the north via the A11/A12, from the south via the A1, and from Florence via the Firenze-Pisa-Livorno expressway. Without a car, take the train to Livorno Centrale, then a bus to Piazza Grande, followed by a ten-minute walk. Pisa Airport is around 25 kilometres away, about 20 minutes by train.

Deadlines vary by operator:
- Grimaldi Lines: at least two hours with a vehicle, at least one hour on foot before departure.
- Moby Lines: 90 minutes with a vehicle (two hours in Genoa), on foot up to 30 minutes before sailing.
